This is a great time for visiting our part of the world. The harvesting of crops is well under way so there’s lovely food and drink to be sampled – Apple Days are happening now, such as the “Cider and Apple Festival” at the National Trust’s Killerton House, or, if mushrooms are more to your liking, there’s also fungi hunting roundabouts too.

How about visiting the Bampton Charter Fair that’s always held on the 3rd Thursday in October? Or you can take a trip to Exmoor for the Dark Skies Festival that’s coming up. A daytime visit there may even reward you with a sighting of a red deer rut. And, not forgetting, the carnival season that’s already well under way.
